Advanced Open Water

Certificación AWARE

The Advanced Open Water course is the next step on the PADI system of continuing education. The Advanced course consists of a small amount of theory but the emphasis is on gaining further experience in the water under the guidance of an Instructor. There are five Open Water dives to be completed for certification. Navigation and Deep Dive are mandatory and the other three are electives. The electives include Peak Performance Buoyancy, Night Dive, Boat dive, Drift Dive and many others. When you are certified as Advanced Open Water you will be qualified to dive to 30m.

Rescue Diver

The PADI rescue diving course has often been described as the most challenging, but at the same time, the most fun of the courses. During the course we will deal with accident prevention and intervention techniques in emergency situations. The student will develop observation skills and behaviors of other divers and learn to intervene effectively in different cases of emergency and evacuation of injured.

Divemaster training

This course will try to convey the diver's sense of responsibility towards himself and his diving companions, anticipating possible situations of danger.

The core elements of this course are:

  • Self rescue
  • Recognizing and managing stress in other divers
  • Emergency management and equipment
  • Rescuing panicked divers
  • Rescuing unresponsive divers

Please note that to be certified as Rescue Diver, is mandatory to have a First Aid course within the last 2 years. If you do not have this course, you will have to sign up for the PADI EFR course (which only lasts 1 day and can be done together with the rescue course).

Divemaster training

For those looking to enter the ranks of professional diver the PADI Divemaster Course is the first step. During the PADI Divemaster program, you learn dive leadership skills through both classroom and independent study. You complete water skills and stamina exercises, as well as training exercises that stretch your ability to organize and solve problems as well as help others improve their scuba. You put this knowledge into action through a structured internship or series of practical training exercises.

The course involves working in close collaboration with a PADI Instructor in order to perfect your diving skills and acquire professional knowledge. You will learn the ability to organize and guide dives and help supervise student training.

Our Services

We also can help you to arrange other aspects of your trip to El Hierro. Information about El Hierro can sometimes be difficult and frustrating to find online and many sites are only in Spanish.

Call or send us email with your requests and we would be happy to make enquiries for you regarding accommodation, car hire, ferry or flight schedules or anything else you need.

El Hierro

In La Restinga there are no hotels therefore the accommodation of choice is self-catering apartments. There are a great variety of locations and prices and if you wish we can make a reservation for you.

It is also worth noting none of the accommodation is more than 200m from the seafront. However for the same reason it can be difficult to find accommodation during peak periods therefore we advise you to make booking well in advance.

Car Hire

We use a reliable local car hire agency with good prices on a range of cars sizes. Prices vary depending on the season, car size and duration of rental. For example an Opel Corsa or similar rented for seven days or more costs €19.90 per day (Basic insurance and taxes included)

Rental cars can be collected and dropped off at the Ferry port or airport for no additional charge.

Anything else....?

If there is anything else regarding your trip that you have a question on, please just contact us. We can help you with international and internal flights, ferry transfers etc...
